blogging - An Asian bloggers' conference?

Simon World is pondering about a Asian bloggers' conference in October 2005. We have been pondering about such an event, also after the Global Voices Online emerged in December last year. Because of the growing difficulties to get US visas for some nationalities, including the Chinese, and because the project does not want to limit itself to loud American voices, alternatives were considered. Europe seemed a possibility, but other developing countries could also be on the agenda.
I felt it might be too early now to have such an event in Shanghai. Blogging is only around for a couple of years and does not seem to have enough momentum. I would vote for 2006, but please disagree with me if you think we can manage to participate in such an event already in 2005.
