protest - Japan's PM says it is sorry
Even China's state media carried the official apologies by Japan's prime minister Koizumi earlier today for his country's wartime record, after weeks of anti-Japanese demonstrations and deteriorating Sino-Japanese relations.
"Japan squarely faces these facts of history in a spirit of humility. And with feelings of deep remorse and heartfelt apology always engraved in mind, Japan has resolutely maintained, consistently since the end of World War II, never turning into a military power but an economic power," he said. Now, this is not the first time it happens, but it has never been seen as enough by China. The state-media (as far as I could see) have not yet given a verdicts about Koizumi's remarks.
