internet - Telco's block Skype-out

Troublesome news is coming from the telecom companies in China, who have decided to a partial blockade of Skype-out, the great phone service by Skype, reports Zalbazone. I have seen already anecdotes telling that people in Shenzhen got a call from China Telecom when they used this Skype-service, but the illegal competitive pressure seems to be going up.
Skype will be blocked in Shenzhen, Shanghai, Beijing and Guangzhou says the announcement, a blockade for commercial reasons. Or maybe it is illegal, as the Ministry of Information Industry only allows the six official telecom operators to have VOIP. That might be bad news for the new joint venture between Tom.com and Skype, but then Tom did have already its share of regulatory problems.
Seems that our technical friends have to find a nice way to get around this block.

Update I: Zalbazone has more here.
Update II: The Shanghai Daily reports that the blockade is not yet there in Shanghai. A spokesperson of Tim Online says that the Chinese edition of Skyp does not facilitate using VOIP through Skype-out. Well, that might be the legally correct answer, but you just wonder how they would make then ever a profit in partnering with Skype.
