labor - Salaries managers at foreign enterprises rise 8 pct
Nationwide salaries for managerial staff at foreign enterprises went up 8 percent, compared to a year ago, while in Shanghai managers can earn up to ten percent more, the US HR-firm Hewitt Associates found in its newest survey, Chinese media reported.
It is for the first time in almost a decade that rising salaries are being used to retain its staff as experienced managers are becoming scarce, according to Hewitt. Until not so long ago salaries for white-collar workers went down as eager people from the rest of the country and abroad flooded to Shanghai.
The Hewitt survey only gives a limited insight in the high-end labor market as their survey mainly uses data from US companies and to a smaller degree European enterprises. Others, including domestic enterprises, might show different patterns.
