economy - The bad reputation of Hong Kong bosses
Ask employees in China who are the worst bosses to work for, and the Hong Kong managers win, followed closely by the Taiwanese. Most of their business traditionally were in the southern parts of China, but also in the Yangtze delta they have spread, as have the insulting ways of local people to describe them
ESWN confirms this bad image for Hong Kong managers by translating an email from one of them, detailing how they would make some money on the side.
I know a Hong Kong manager named Chen. Two years ago, he was still living in a public housing estate. Today, he has bought houses in Hong Kong and China; he has BMW's in Hong Kong and China; he has a mistress. His salary is HK$450,000 per annum, but his under-the-table income is HK$7 million per annum. Then the email goes on detailing how that money is being made. It is an illustration how money is being made, although the Hong Kong bosses really go very far. It shows why much of the economy in China is literally under cover.
