economy - Why China is not falling apart

I have already dedicated a part of my book (here in German) to this continuing illusion that China is on the brink of collapse. While I thought is was gone, the matter keeps on popping up. (Read also the comments here.)
The growing disparity between rich and the fast growing number of officially registered protests have become the focus of renewed speculation about the serious problems China is facing. In Asia Times Francesco Sisci explains why this is not the case, in his opinion.
Therefore, it would be misguided to say that protests and the income gap are simply going to push China over the edge, that the days of the Chinese boom are numbered and will be followed by a 1920s-China sequel - renewed civil war and warlordism, with the next dynasty struggling to establish itself from the wreckage of the old regime.
Not surprisingly, I agree.
