The starting bid for a baby was 1 yuan, like most items sold on eBay. If a bidder agreed to pay 28,000 yuan (US$3,457) for a boy or 13,000 yuan for a girl, the person would win the auction immediately.

No bid was received yet, wrote the Shanghai Daily. The Shanghai police is investigating the case.
