internet - The exploding blogosphere

Today the excellent service by John Pasden, the China Blog list, noting all new English language blogs on China, gave me an update of about 25 new blogs. I noted that John has revamped his website to facilitate the exploding number of blogs on his site.
While he has not been able to update for some time, the giant number of blogs points at one of the major problems for those who use blogs: how to make a distinction? Today I only added "Travels of Rain" of a Chinese PhD student in Chengdu and the Beijing Observer, a colleague in Beijing to my RSS-reader. The rest will have to prove themselves by being quoted at other sites, I cannot just add everybody anymore.
Earlier this year I have in a wave of despare deleted most English-language teachers in China: they drove me crazy. With some exceptions they had not so much to add apart from a huge ego and unbelievable prejudices. I do like to discuss differences of opinions, but it does not help when people only have opinions to offer. A few have returned since then, but only very few. The blogosphere is getting rather competitive.
