internet - How to get your competitor blockedJust another day on the internet and in China both Wikipedia and Typepad still have their IP-addresses blocked.
Earlier in the week I explained that getting unblocked is part of a negotiation process.
What I did not explain then was that you can also get this kind of services where many people put their content online blocked. I'm quite sure that competitors use already this strategy, so it might be useful to explain ordinary users how the process works.
Basically you have to set up weblogs or entries that contain a load of banned words. That might not be enough, since if all websites with banned words would be blocked, there would not be much to see on the internet in China. Pointing at those entries in Chinese BBS's or in a large number of emails is much more effective.
I do not have to tell you that this is a pretty nasty trick, but it might explain why sometimes this kind of services get blocked by nasty competitors. Competitors can be evil.
