VW Santana dominated 15 years

economy - Volkswagen slashes production

Yesterday I already wrote about the 'Olympic' cost cutting plans of Volkswagen China. What I did not notice then, but the Financial Times did, was that the plans including reducing its production capacity with 50 percent. Capacity will be down to 900,000 vehicles per year; two years ago it was still 1.6 million.
So much for the country that has been the obsession of car markers for almost half a decade. I know some people down the food chain who are not going to be happy. Perhaps that the export of car parts, like Delphi is planning, can compensate some of the reductions, but for sure it will be tough.
