media - Chinese papers also fear for future
Reports of the results from newspapers worldwide are not encouraging: 2005 has already been described as the worst year ever, both in terms of declining readership and declining revenue stream from ads.
From the ongoing 38th Global Chinese newspaper conference in Shanghai I hear similar sounds. Confidence in the Chinese-language part of the newspaper industry is similarly gloomy as their potential readership is turning (more than in the rest of the world) to mobile solution to get their news.
Some of the local journalists will be out on the streets tomorrow to sell their newspaper in Shanghai, but they are not very confident it will change a lot.
