Chinabiz gives a short overview of the logistical market in China. One remark by Jean Luc Laboucheix of Electrolux China struck me as odd.
The logistic market in China is highly fragmented. Laboucheix estimated that in China there are 5 million trucks and 2.5 million registered logistic companies, a possible average of three trucks per company. Even 3PL companies have no sufficient trucks.According to articles written by Ben Dolven lfor the Far Eastern Economic Review ess than five years ago, then there were more logistical companies than trucks, suggesting that since then the truckers market has consolidated in a major way. If the figures are correct of course.
I could not find Dolven's article, since the FEER-old style is no longer online, apart from a few other really good articles. Here is a bit more.
