internet - Weblog hosts face first restructering

Bokee.com has announced it will lay off a quarter of its 400 employees and possibly change its business model, the Russian newswire Interfax says, quoting anonymous managers at China's largest commercial webhosting firm. The change comes three months after the company obtained a 10 US dollar venture capital investment, but a link is denied.
Room for paid hosting of weblogs has decreased dramatically now free services like MSN Spaces are making waves in a markets that claims to have already over 30 million weblogs.
"The entire blog market in China is not doing very well right now, and these layoffs are a reflection of that," the Bokee.com director said.

Bokee.com was partly a media company writing many weblogs for celebrities and do anything that could attract traffic - putting off many other webloggers.
