"I still remember last year September when I downloaded my first Daily Sourcecode by Adam Curry," says Toodou.com co-founder and former financial controller Marc van der Chijs. "Why don't we start something like that in China, I asked my friends."
Podcast company toodou.com emerged from almost nothing into - according to the Chinese edition of the Fortune magazine - one of China's fastest growing companies. Two friends now host 20,000 podcasts, surprisingly in China mostly as videos. Marc van der Chijs explains their current success: creating a very close online community, a good relationship with the government and clean content, even no porn. After six month of programming toodou developed into a leading podcast hoster, doing a much better job than the Chinese portals. How a project that started because Marc could not get his favorite music delivers enormous potential.
