internet - Has Bokee/BlogChina been cheating traffic figures?

VNU-net reports that leading internet traffic ranking company Alexa has kicked off webhosting company Bokee/BlogChina from its statistics. (And they base themselves on a Sina.com report.) Also HomeWay has been removed from its top-position in the ranking.

Later reports on Sina.com have linked this to alleged illicit attempts to boost site rankings, noting that BlogChina's Alexa rankings had been reset once before, in January 2005.

No clue how you could be cheating, but then in China people always seem to be able to find a way. How difficult it is to actually get an idea of your own traffic I can see, since I use at least three ways to track the traffic on this site. They all report different figures and tendencies, so it does seem time to get a new discussion on how to get the bloody traffic measured in a decent way to start with.
