internet - Hackers bring down 180,000 Chinese websites

An attack on DNS-servers brought down the service of Xinnet, bringing down 180,000 websites including its own, reports the Shanghai Daily. Xinnet is one of the largest services in China.
The eight-hour attack by hackers started yesterday afternoon and lasted till midnight. While the largest websites are back in service, some of the smaller ones might have to wait till October 7, after the upcoming holiday.
