media - Reuters moves editorial activities to Beijing

An interesting announcement, brought to us by Reuters, so it must be true. The newswire is opening a development center in Beijing that will also include editorial activities.
The centre, located in the capital's technology hub of Zhongguancun, will also input data related to mergers and acquisitions, company financial reports and forecasts, and economic data for markets in China, South Korea and Japan, Reuters said in a statement on Monday.
That is similar to an earlier move, when editorial jobs moved from its headquarters in London to India. For China it certainly means a notch higher on the outsourcing agenda.

Afterthought: Just wondered how the Reuters operation in Beijing would work out in the current legal climate, where foreign companies are not allowed to run media companies, unless a majority is owned by a Chinese company. Or all the hundreds of journalists in this Beijing center becoming foreign correspondents?
