"You should visit one of these days the new Carrefour in Zhongshan Park," said the upcoming author and lawyer Mark Schaub after he and his wife Connie served me a delicious meal with many pork ribs. "We got them there."
Mark is my regular adviser on the good things in life and is decided to shift a planned meeting to Zhongshan Park. After my visit to the South Shanghai Railway Station last weekend, I knew I has some urgent catching up to do. I knew already that Zhongshan park had developed into a local logistical hub with subway no.2, no.3 and no.4 crossing with countless busses. But I had missed the Nine Cloud department store, yet another new consumer paradise with indeed a very nice, not too large Carrefour inside.
It must have been my lucky day, since they combined nice European and Chinese goodies, including a huge wine department, bread, decent coffee and even Dutch cheese. My old Carrefour at subway no.1 at Hualian station must have stopped selling that Dutch cheese since I was the only one buying it.
Carrefour in Gubei had all those things, but was without car very hard to visit. Now, subway no.4 brings me almost door-to-door.
