China's Wikipedia

internet - Wikipedia now fully unblocked

Andrew Lih reports from Beijing that now also the Chinese Wikipedia is no longer blocked. So, I switched off my proxy and indeed: also in Shanghai the popular website can be seen without proxy.
The English edition was already unblocked earlier on.
It is hard to keep on counting the number of still-blocked, but I clearly have the impression that the number of blocks is going down relatively fast. It poses a strange dilemma for both the censors and the users. In the past when a lot of useful information was stopped by the Great Firewall, almost everybody would know how to use a proxy and have it at hand. Now, that seems no longer necessary, making the blocks that are in place more effective.
