Internet – FLG-spam causes a slowdown
At least that is my conclusion now. This afternoon I tried to switch on my connection and everything went terrible slow. I went over the different possibilities. Had the African heads of state decided to move from Beijing to Shanghai and were clogging up my internet?
My gmail did not open, my rss-reader was having problems, I could not work on my online documents. Only when I started jajah.com to make free calls some of the barriers moved away, after I started my favorite proxy.
What showed up: the same people who made my proxy had now sent me spam, telling that a small party official had defected while on a trip in Thailand. I got about a half dozen messages telling me just that. A whole bunch of spam for one upnoxious little official? I thought the sacking of the party secretary in Nanjing was bigger news.
Anyway, looks like our FLG-friends messed up my online life for today; hope they do not find more of these little angry men.
Update: Rebecca points at a much larger debate on the poor connectivity of gmail on the Chinese internet. In my experience (and yesterday it was a bigger problem than today) many more of the google-services are doing poorly, but many other services are also hit, including my RSS-reader. I seem to be the only one to blame the FLG for spamming me.
