Shanghai workers hold Korean management hostage
A group of 1,800 workers at Shanghai's Chongming island are holding the Korean management of a mill hostage, say Korean media (since Chinese media cannot write about such unharmonious behavior.)
The incident started last Friday.
The workers imprisoned the officials and staged a sit-in to demand severance pay and overtime pay that they say is in arrears. The Korean mill H started operations ten years ago, but is now at the verge of liquidation. The Chosun makes a connection with the upcoming labor contract law, but that relations is pretty unclear, since the liquidation seems the main reason.
