Melamine now also in yogurt and ice cream
Yili at stakevia Wikipedia China has been saving up on food security scandals during the Beijing Olympics it seems. After the baby milk scandal, the same chemical melamine is also found in yogurt, notably Yili's yoghurt, reports Bloomberg. Yili is one of China's major dairy farms, originating in Inner-Mongolia.
I know Yili mainly from ice cream found in Hong Kong, but that now also seems at stake.
Wellcome, a supermarket chain owned by Dairy Farm International Holdings Ltd., said it will stop selling ice cream made by Inner Mongolia Yili Industrial Group after the chemical was found in a sample, according to a statement sent by e-mail late today.Bloomberg lists the disaster in full here.
