Should bad companies just die?
Flag waiving endedGetty Images via DaylifeOne question regulators face in both the US financial crises and the melamine milk crisis in China is whether they should let the market do its work and let bad companies die. That was the simple message from the US to China when it argued against government interference in the markets, up to a few weeks ago.
Now, it seems quite obvious that we will not hear that argument to often from the US, no matter how the 700 billion USD bailout deal for its financial industry will look like next week. In China the discussion has also heated up, was the China Media Project reports.
The popular voices in China calls not only for criminal prosecution - something the FBI might also do in the US - but they agree mostly that unethical companies should just die.
