At group of US internet gurus visited China over the past two weeks, including uber-guru Robert Scoble. When you need proof that those kind of visits can make sense, you should read this report by Thomas Crampton (and more is coming). Main take-away:
Scoble came to China most concerned about censorship and the Great Firewall, but left more worried about China’s impact on climate change.
At least here was somebody really listening. While not trying to do as if censorship is no issue, the question how foreign media and lobby organization were setting their priorities has wondered not only me, but more observers who know China quite a lot. China is having its fear load of problems, also problems that have a profound effect on the rest of the world. The environment is certainly one of them.

Setting priorities when dealing with China is not easy. Fortunately, at the China Speakers Bureau we have speakers who are authorities in their field, like Charles McElwee, who is a leading environmental and energy lawyer, now McElwee2Charles McElwee
