The French publication Caradisiac comes with an interesting analysis on the strategy of China's car companies for entering Europe, called "A Trojan horse in Italy". Chinese companies do envision to enter both Europe and the US in the future, but they mostly use business in developing nations to prepare themselves for that just, as explained here by Shaun Rein.
Jiangling Motors is already operating from Italy, after its Landwind SUV got into trouble in other past of Europe. Great Wall is selling their SUV's since 2006 in Italy. Chery started in Italy, as will do Lifan and Changhe.
